Starring Anita Yuen and Archie Kao, Deathday Party is part psychological thriller and part family drama. Helen Shin (Anita Yuen), a widowed mother suspected of killing her husband Danny Shin (Archie Kao), must undergo an intense and possibly lethal psychological test to determine her guilt. With her life at stake and a daughter to care for, Helen must prove her innocence to hopelessly biased and cruel investigators or risk losing everything.

Given the rather generous recording budget (for a Chinese film), this score is one of the largest I've attempted in terms of scope and production. It also happens to be one of my most overtly emotional soundtracks both in its darkness and romanticism - a lush eeriness. If that doesn't seem to make sense, just give it a listen.
