Broken Bureau/Caught in Trap tells the story of a group of detectives who must unravel the mystery around a curious string of murders while facing pressure from a corrupt local government.

This Chinese crime thriller was one of those rare projects where the director said I would have complete creative control and actually meant it. With such unexpected artistic freedom for such a stylistically traditional film, I decided to pour heart and soul into "the Jerry Goldsmith score I've always dreamed of writing." The end result is a lively, bombastic, and aggressive orchestral score that pays homage to the great Hollywood soundtracks of the 1990s.
